a Dermatoscope

improves your diagnostic accuracy

The skin cancer is one of the most frequent tumours in humans and it can have different features. Nevertheless, not all the skin changes are cancer. Therefore, a regular visit to the dermatologist is a good practice when the person sees any change or has many freckles on the skin. The early diagnosis and the correct treatment increase the probabilities to cure it.

The accuracy of the clinical diagnosis of cutaneous melanoma with the unaided eye is only about 60%. Dermatoscope (Dermoscopy), a non-invasive, in vivo techniquie for the microscopic examination of pigmented skin lesions, has the potential to improve the diagnostic accuracy up to 90%.

Dermatoscopy (dermoscopy) is characterized by 83% sensitivity and 69% specificity for the detection of melanomas. In clinical practice it is extremely important to know the correct assessment of the lesions on the patient's body in terms of technical procedures as well as the basic knowledge of dermatoscopy (dermoscopy).

The most common types of skin cancer are:

- Malignant melanoma

- Non-melanoma skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma

- Rare types of non-melanoma skin cancer: Kaposi's sarcoma, Merkel cell carcinoma and T cell Iymphoma of the skin
